Six Years After Hytale's Ground-breaking Announcement Trailer, the Game and Hypixel Studios Close Down
It's official, and the doubters have won the war: Hytale has closed down its doors, and it'll never see the light of day. In a post made by Noxy at Hypixel Studios, the CEO talks about the "difficult update" about Hytale, and how it's never going to come to fruition.
A Difficult Update About Hytale

Hey Everyone,
Today, I shared some incredibly tough news with the Hypixel Studios team: we’re ending development on Hytale and beginning the process of winding down Hypixel Studios over the next few months.
This is not the outcome any of us - at…
The prodigal Minecraft killer released an announcement trailer back in the 13th of December 2018 that saw the millions of views, and accrued a massive following. While the project was "ways away" at the time, Hypixel Studios was enthusiastic of the future, with updates every once in a while to share the development process and how everything was unfolding.
The entire history of Hytale is complex, to put it lightly, and even after funding from Riot Games, it ultimately failed to come to fruition. In the post, Noxy talks about the fact that this wasn't the outcome anyone wanted — highlighting both Hypixel Studios and Riot Games — but that it was the only choice, stating that anything else would mean compromising what Hytale was supposed to be.
The former founder of Hypixel Studios shared some thoughts about the state of the game. Simon left the company and Hytale development when Riot Games joined, as he was given an "out", believing that he couldn't really keep up the momentum and expectation that the voxel-based game had accrued.
In his post, Simon states that he believes it all came down to mismanagement and stress to meet expectations, trusting "others" to make the day-one vision that could have made Hytale the thriving title it was meant to be. Everywhere on X, developers who had been working on the project are sharing their views, ideas, and what a possible future looks like outside of Hypixel Studios, including talks about the old game source.
During my time working on Hytale in 2016-2019, it was maybe to the absolute maximum 2 years away from a PC release with the legacy engine and vision. I still have videos, screenshots and old client builds to attest to that. All developers from that time that I've talked to say…

Players who believed in the project are furious about closure, stating that they'd have liked the opportunity to partake in Alpha and Beta tests to ensure Hytale reached the heights it could have. Many are echoing back to Minecraft's first Alpha launch, and how much it has changed over the years, mentioning this was a possible route for the game to take.
Over the next few months, Hypixel Studios will be closing its gates, and Riot Games is helping ease this transition process for the team, having previously sought out whether other investors or acquirers would be interested in giving it a new home. Once all possible venues were exhausted, they're now offering 'generous severance and resources to help [the team] find what's next".

HAHA I love this. Good call indeed — a painful loss, though. I was hopeful!
